Frequently Asked questions
What are Semi-Permanent Microblading Brows?
This is the process of delicately infusing pigment into the skin with a sterile micro needle to simulate the appearance of natural hair. Hairstrokes are meant to be a subtle, natural enhancement and to create fuller more beautiful brows.
Hairstroke eyebrows heal best on normal to dry skin types. Hairstrokes may not work well on clients with very oily skin, large pores or previous permanent cosmetics tattoos. Those with oily skin types and larger pores, results may appear softer and powdery. Client’s with thin skin or Rosacea cannot receive hairstroke brows.
The hairstroke method is designed to blend with your natural brow hair, the more hair you have the more realistic the results will appear. If you have very little or sparse eyebrow hair results will appear flatter, and it is possible that you may need more than two sessions to achieve your desired result.
Hairstroke brows are not meant to entirely replace makeup. Eyebrow pencils and powders may still be needed.
What are Semi-Permanent Powder Brows?
This is the process of delicately infusing pigment into the skin with a sterile micro needle to simulate the appearance of beautifully shaped brows. Semi-Permanent Powder brows are meant to enhance and define your brows. Powder Brows are beautiful on any skin type!
Clients who want a more defined or “made up” looking brow may be happier choosing a Powder Brow or a Designer Brow (this can be discussed at your initial appointment).
How Do I choose between powdered brows and feathered brows?
If you have a lot of brow hair, dry skin, and small pores, you are a good candidate for Microblading brows. If you don't have a lot of brow hair, oily or combination skin, and bigger pores, it's usually best to do powdered brows which can also look more natural and soft. Microblading brows done on oily skin will blur out the strokes and will end up looking splotchy or like powdered brows. If you don't have a lot of brow hair, Combo (Microblading + Powder or Shading) brows, is the best result.
How long will my Semi-Permanent Cosmetics last?
It depends on the individual's skin, activities etc. The pigments are designed to fade over time and are not permanent. The duration depends on the hand tool or machine used, pigment brand, skin type, age, metabolism, medications, life style and quality of after care. The sun and some lighting treatments can affect the rate at which these pigments are broken down. To take care of your brows follow the aftercare instructions and touch-up your brows every 6 month to 2 years (as needed). Touch-Ups are normal and expected for Semi-Permanent Cosmetics.
NOTE: The final results vary and CANNOT be guaranteed due to the nature of skin as it heals. A follow up appointment is recommended at 4 - 8 weeks where we can assess your pigment retention and make any changes necessary. Some clients may require more than one follow up to reach their desired results at an additional cost.
Are Semi-Permanent Cosmetics painful?
A topical anesthetic cream and gel with 5% Lidocain will be used for numbing before and throughout the procedure for maximum comfort as pain tolerance will vary from person to person. Having the procedure during your menstrual cycle may increase your sensitivity.
How long is the appointment?
The initial procedure takes about 2 to 2.5 hours. This includes the designing process, numbing the area, color to discuss and Semi-Permanent Cosmetics procedure. The procedure will not be started on you until you agree with the color selected and shape. Touch-Up sessions take about 1.5 to 2 hours.
What kind of pigment do you use?
We use FDA approved iron oxide based pigments. These pigments are safe to use and are created to slowly fade over time. They are considered the safest semi-permanent pigments to use for skin.
Is Semi-Permanent Cosmetics Safe?
All needles are single use and come in sterilized packaging. Needles are disposed of after each client. The machines and pigments completely sterile. All work stations are thoroughly disinfected before and after each appointment.
How should I prepare for my appointment?

What should I expect immediately after my appointment?
Please refer to pre/post-care.
How long does it take to heal?
The healing time is about 1 week to 4 weeks depending on your body. The swelling should go down within 1-3 days. There will be scabbing on the pigmented surface over the next 3-14 days. Your scabs should flake off bit by bit. Some people scab in light flakes and some develop a thick scab. You will have some dark and light spots throughout the healing process. After the scabbing is done the color may appear very light for about 4 weeks. When the skin is fully healed the color will darken slightly. DO NOT pick at the scabs and make sure you thoroughly read and follow the AFTERCARE INSTUCTIONS properly to obtain the best results (call if you have any questions). As long as you are good at following aftercare instructions, there shouldn't be an issue going to work or being out in public. This is just a personal preference. Immediately after, the colors will appear darker and slightly swollen depending on your body's sensitivity. The colors will lighten by 50-60% during the first week of the healing process.
What are the aftercare instructions?
Please refer to post-after-cares.
Do I need a touch-up appointment?
I highly recommend a touch-up appointment. An initial session to establish structure, design, and building hairstrokes. The Touch-Up session is needed to evaluate how well the skin heals and retains pigment, as well as making any necessary adjustments to achieve better symmetry, definition, or volume.
Can we cover up/color correct/ camouflage my old tattoo done by another artist?
PLEASE SEND A PHOTO OF YOUR OLD TATTOO PRIOR TO BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT!!! YOUR OLD TATTOO MUST BE VERY FADED IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE DESIRED RESULTS. GOING OVER AN OLD TATTOO THAT IS STILL TOO DARK WILL GIVE YOU DISAPPOINTING RESULTS, IT IS BEST TO REMOVE THE OLD TATTOO FIRST, BEFORE GETTING MICRO-BLADING DONE.
If an old tattoo needs to be covered up that was previously done by another artist and is extremely uneven or dramatic in shape, we may not be able to achieve your exact desired shape or symmetry. Any hairstrokes done within the old tattoo may blend in and will not be as crisp, giving an appearance of unevenness in color and the old tattoo will still show through the new hairstrokes. If there is a build up of scar tissue, the strokes may not hold as well in those areas. Specifications on an exact color after healed is not guaranteed.
If you want to correct the color of your old tattoo (that has faded to red/orange/blue/gray) so it doesn’t end up showing between the hairstrokes, color correcting can be an option by shading in the area with a color correcting pigment done with a machine. This must be done at least 6 weeks prior to an Eyebrow Feathering appointment. Hairstrokes will still not be as crisp with color correcting. Please keep in mind that the pigment I use are semi-permanent and do fade over time, which means that the color of your old tattoo will still be there as my pigment fades. You will need Touch-Ups to maintain a neutralized color.
For optimum results with Microblading, you may also opt to remove your old tattoo. This option may require several sessions (done before your microblading procedure at least 8 weeks apart) for desired results. It works by implanting a special saline solution to lift out the old pigment. The healing process will be the same as the tattoo treatment. Although great results are achievable in most cases, every case is circumstantial and there is no guarantee for how many sessions it will take to achieve desired results, or that the old tattoo will completely go away.
All options will be discussed during the consultation, and tattooing will not start until the final design is agreed upon.
Please call to send a picture of your old tattoo prior to booking an appointment for Cover-Up, Color Correcting, and Removal Treatments to eliminate the risk of losing your deposit due to not being able to work over the old tattoo.
